This trip to London felt like it would never come. It was booked in January 2017 because that was the earliest we could get tickets for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and Hamilton. There were so many places I wanted to try for food in London. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to try them all but I did have some really good food. Let’s start with the best – Dinerama London.
Street Feast Dinerama. Located in Shoreditch, this was something I was really looking forward to. Different stalls with different food, my kind of heaven. I had possibly the nicest chicken wings I’ve ever had in my life here from Thunderbird. Habanero – Roast Pepper Cream, Habanero Coriander and Tamarind Glaze. They were so good we had a second portion. I’ll definitely be trying to recreate these at home. I doubt they’ll be as good but I can live in hope.
We also had the Chipuffalo wings. Buffalo, Chipotle, Coriander with Truffled Blue Cheese Dip. Gorgeous as well.
The next thing I loved was from Yum Bun. I had the pork and chicken buns. Now, there was something in the chicken one I didn’t really like, I think it might have been kimchi but that didn’t matter because as soon as I said I didn’t want the rest LP hoovered it into his gob. The pork was so good though. The boa was so fresh and the pork was so fragrant. If I could have fit any more food in I’d have got another pork bun.
From Prawnography I had the Bang Bang Shrimp. Crispy fried prawns drenched in chilli garlic bang bang sauce. I was hoping it would be similar to Bonefish Grill’s bang bang shrimp that I had when I was in Orlando and tried to recreate at home. Recipe here. While it wasn’t the same (Prawnography’s was more garlicky) it was still delicious.
For my dessert, I was dying to try You Doughnut and it did not disappoint. I had Salted Peanut Popcorn Caramel with vanilla sugared doughnut bites, salted caramel sauce, popcorn and peanut brittle crumb with ‘junk food’ ice cream. It usually comes with cinnamon doughnuts but I got them to swap them for vanilla. The junk food ice cream consisted of vanilla with brownie, marshmallow, caramel & cookie dough. This was a perfect end to a great selection of food. The doughnuts were light and fluffy and the ice-cream should be packaged and sold. The doughnuts reminded me of my no longer available-beloved Dublin Doughnut Co which I sorely miss.
Other things we had were Steamed Pork Dumplings with xian-style sauce and sesame seeds and Steamed mushroom dumplings with roasted cashews and green oil from Yumlings.
The Tomahawk Pork Chop with honey-apple sauce and fennel slaw from Lagom.
The jerk chicken from White Men Can’t Jerk
and last but not least, Cajun Fries with Awesome Sauce from Thunderbird.
Would I go back to Dinerama?
I’d go back just to have those Thunderbird Wings and You Doughnuts again.
What did I not like?
It’s a bit expensive and not all stalls were open. But overall, not much to complain about.
