The Chili Shack opened today on Prussia St. They gave away free food on Saturday and from the pictures I saw the queues were epic. Their location was previously home to Boqueria (I’m still not over them moving to Howth) which then became BQR (and was a disaster) and is now The Chili Shack. TBH, other than Eddie Rockets (and possibly Cowtown) there isn’t much around the area for chilli, burgers, wings, or hot dogs. Sure you can go to town and get a delicious chicken burger in PittBros or some wings in Wishbone (still haven’t tried them) but really, if you’re living on DNS and aren’t arsed going into town then The Chili Shack is in a great location.
As I said, they serve chilli, burgers, wings and hot dogs plus more. I decided to go for wings because I’m a sucker for good chicken wings. I like my wings to be crispy, saucy and meaty. I’m not into scaldy wings with only enough meat to feed a mouse on them. My chicken wings need to have some substance.

I ordered the Chili Buffalo Wings. The Chili Shack hit 2 out of 3 of my list of criteria.

Although they were lovely, they weren’t the saucy type of wings I was expecting but it wouldn’t stop me ordering them again. As much as I enjoyed the wings I was absolutely bulling I didn’t get a burger.

LP’s burger was gorgeous. He went for The Beast, naturally. The bacon cheese, chilli cheese and smoke stack burger all rolled into one. It had smoked cheese, smoked bacon, onion rings, and jalapenos. I usually would only ever have one bite of someone else’s food but I went back in for seconds (and thirds) of this.
The wings and the burger both came with a portion of paprika fries and the wings also came with a blue cheese dip. For the purpose of eh, research, we got a portion of poutine fries as well.

Chips, cheese and house gravy. I don’t know if there’s any better combination. I came close to picking up the box and pouring the gravy in my mouth it was that nice. They also do Tex Mex Poutine which consists of chips, cheese, gravy, smoked bacon, red onions, sour cream and coriander. I can’t wait to try those.
The bill came to roughly €20 which to me is great value as we both left stuffed.
Would I go back to The Chili Shack? 100% Can’t wait to go back and try the rest of the menu.
What did I not like? Service was slow but that’s to be expected on an opening night.
