WOWBURGER

I love a good burger. Dublin has so many great places to get burgers that it’s hard to pick a favourite. Lately however my go to place is Wowburger. Wowburger is upstairs in the Workman’s Club (in the same building as Bison). It doesn’t have a huge amount of signage outside so could be easily missed.. The burgers are excellent value, delicious and there are a nice variety of toppings available. As I’ve said in previous posts about burgers – I like mine medium rare but I’m open to burgers being cooked more when they taste good and Wowburger delivers on that front.

I usually go for a cheese burger with tomato and Wowburger sauce. The picture doesn’t do it justice but believe me these burgers are really tasty.

The burgers available are hamburger, cheeseburger, bacon cheeseburger and also mini versions of those three. The toppings for the burgers are free and you can choose from grilled mushrooms, grilled onions, raw onions, jalapeños, lettuce, tomato, pickles, ketchup, mayo, bbq sauce, hot sauce and Wowburger sauce. LP gets raw onions, jalapeños and Wowburger sauce (none of which can be seen in the picture below!)

What really sells Wowburger to me is the garlic butter fries. I reckon not even eating a head of garlic comes close to how garlicy these chips are. They also do chilli fries as well which are also really good but very filling. You might want to get those between two people.

The cheese burger and garlic fries came to a total of €8.90 which I think is excellent value. For that price you won’t get a nicer burger in the city centre with the variety that Wowburger offers.

Also available on the menu are thick shakes (vanilla, chocolate, strawberry) and sundaes. I’m not sure how anyone manages to have them since I’m always stuffed after my burger and chips.

Wowburger opens from 12 pm to 9.30pm Monday to Sunday so it’s a handy lunch option if you’re close by.

Do I think Wowburger is nicer than Bunsen? Yes and no. As much as I love Bunsen it’s not worth the hour long queues to have it and I’d happily go to Wowburger instead. It also has bacon.

Would I go back to Wowburger? Definitely.
What did I not like? The only thing I don’t like about Wowburger is that it’s outdoors and smoking is permitted.
